"Can't put into words how epic this place is ! Imagine your ideal retreat and double it (at a minimum). The grounds are impeccable and serene. The hallways, bi-ways, bed-ways and many ways around the house will make you never want to leave. Have a lounging evening in the white salon, or a lay out by the pool. It is a stone's throw from the beach, Cherboug and neighbouring fishing villages. The hosts are loads of fun. You are sure to leave there ready to come back !" CK,

"My stay in the Château de Montvason was possibly the most magical holiday I've had. Paul and Emma are the warmest, nicest hosts and pay so much attention to detail. Their fabulous vintage style is in every corner and every aspect of the Château. Despite its size, it is a place you can really relax and feel cosy. I was surprised how effective the heating is and the pool is like a steam room, pure luxury! I enjoyed a country walk down the track alongside the neighbouring farm and taking in the clean air. Château de Montvason is a romantic and special place. I will never forget it." Justbutton

"I dont know how they do it - from the very first welcome and for my entire stay, I felt completely at home. The Château itself is stunning in its beauty and elegance, with gorgeous furnishings and a variety of themed rooms, which are as comfortable as they are beautiful . There is also a fabulous heated pool room, lovely grounds to walk around and a beach not too far a drive away. This place has it all. I didnt want to leave !"

Château de Montvason is utterly gorgeous, with beautiful Art Deco details throughout. I stayed in the Pickford Room, which was the perfect room for one or two guests, with views across the amazing gardens. The pool is perfect for relaxing and having a cocktail in the early evening. There are plenty of places to escape from it all at the Château. Emma and Paul and perfect hosts, with loads of recommendations of nearby restaurants and beaches to visit. I felt totally welcome and at home here and cannot wait to book another trip to the Château." BS

"Château de Montvason is a hidden gem. Only 20 minutes inland from Cherbourg, but it felt like I had travelled back in time, to an idyllic, secluded, old world wonderland. The house is vast, with such creative and imaginative rooms, all completely different with such class and decadence at the same time. The colours and attention to detail are sublime and so comfortable, you feel right at home, like a lord or lady of the manor. I've fallen in love with the place. The grounds are immense and you can spend a whole day just wandering around from room to room, or in the gardens around the lake, taking in the stunning landscape and imagining life there 100, or 60 years ago. The house is steeped in history and it just oozes from the walls. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, seeing is believing ! " ACP

"A short drive from the local beaches, bars, restaurants, cafes and plenty of interesting sites to see, you have the Château de Montvason. The driveway curves round to reveal this stunning period house, it's just wonderful ! From the moment you enter the building, via the stairs (which for all the world something you would see on a movie set), into the reception area, you immediately fall in love with Montvason. Greeted by hosts Paul and Emma, you are made more than welcome and at ease, as you are shown into the lovely Oriental room to relax with beverages, before being shown to your rooms.
All rooms are very tastefully decorated, clean and very comfortable, all with great views of Montvasons very substantial grounds, which comprise its own wood, lake, gardens and wildlife. The still of the night is broken only by the sound of owls and crickets, as you sit gazing up at the stars, with neverending wonder. In hand, a glass of Emma's hot buttered rum (I warn you, it's very morish), and the sound of bird calls in the morning is just heavenly. It's just so peaceful. The hosts eagle eye for detail is more than apparent in the renovation of their beloved Montvason, by not compromising its integrity. Their style, class, unpretentiousness, authenticity and genuine warm, caring sense of fun, with true old-fashioned hospitality, is something which not many hosts possess , which is the reason we shall be returning to Montvason." "The Château grounds are simply stunning. It's easy and quick to get to from the nearby ferry port and the place itself is very, very special. There's a huge amount of space. The indoor swimming pool with conservatory doors, was a particular treat. Really nice to sit by the pool, day or night, (at night it lights up with lovely mood-lighting) and enjoy a swim, where you can see the sky and surrounding scenery, while staying warm ! The rooms are very nice, clean and decorated in a wonderful vintage style. The kitchen and dining room accommodated us really well for some delicious dinners too. The hosts are warm and wonderful people, who will help to make your stay perfect in every aspect. Cannot recommend strongly enough !" Terrywho

"I had the pleasure of staying at Paul and Emma's stunning Château early last spring. The location itself is wonderful and the Château one of the most romantic, beautiful and breathtaking places I have ever stayed. From the surrounding land to the vintage interior, the Château sparkles with charm and glamour, whilst maintaining a relaxing, soothing, environment. Paul and Emma were perfect hosts and made me feel welcome in their beautiful home, free to explore it's magical nooks and crannies and soak up the timeless atmosphere. I cannot wait to return and am thoroughly jealous of anyone who gets the opportunity to go !" JS
